Here is a wedding prayer that invokes the presence of God to work within the couple  so that they “May trust God that in joining your lives together that you are both exactly where you are meant to be.”  This is adapted  from a classic prayer of Teresa of Avila.

Wedding Prayer

May today there be supernatural peace within the union of your souls.

May you trust God that in joining your lives together that you are both exactly where you are meant to be.

May neither of you ever forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May each of you use those gifts that you have received to build a strong and lasting marriage.

May you pass on the love that has been given to you back to each other so that great and lasting love will overflow to those around you.

May you be confident knowing you are a children of God.  Let this presence settle into marriage and allow your souls the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

God is with you.  Amen.
