A Christmas Prayer for Joy
Are you finding it hard to find joy in your life this Christmas? During Christmas we expect to have fun, be with friends and family and feel happy. Yet often we find ourselves depressed, lonely, stressed out and worried. Here is a prayer for your for the kind of Christmas joy that transcends our let-down feelings about our life situations.
A Christmas Prayer for Joy
Dear heavenly Father during this season when we sing, “Joy to the World” I come to you with a life full of both good days and bad days. Most days I have a hard time finding joy in the middle of my duties and worries. And yet Christmas comes and the promise of joy returns just when I need it the most.
I thank you that despite the fact that Mary the Mother of Jesus was young and poor and pregnant before her marriage, she was able to say, “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me – holy is his name.” (Luke 1:46-49 NIV)
Thank you that I can find joy that you are the Mighty One with whom all things are possible. Thank you that even in my mundane life I can serve Your eternal purposes that are much bigger than myself. Thank you for the freedom to step outside of problems, outside of the boxes people put me in to be a pioneer in your Kingdom. Thank you that I can find joy in glorifying you with this ordinary life and can have joy no matter what circumstances I find myself in. Magnify your glory and your joy in my heart today and every day. Amen.
