The subtitle to this book is “How God Can Use Your Prayers to Move Heaven and Earth.”

In this book the author takes us on a personal, Biblical and challenging journey into intercessory prayer. In the first chapter he tells us, “I’ve learned that no one is born a prayer hero. They are shaped and refined on the practice field of life.” As the book progresses, he encourages us to be bold, persistent and patient. The chapters are very easy to read and grasp because they have topic titles, bullet lists, indented stories and anecdotes and bold quotes that come from the text that help us grasp each concept. At the end of each chapter are questions for reflection that help us think through the concepts. There is also a brief leader’s guide in the back to help group leaders facilitate using the book for group study.

Review: This is an extremely readable book and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to pray with more determination and power. The author talks about real life yet continuously helps us look toward Christ as our Intercessor. One concept from this book that a friend had mentioned to me was “tipping the prayer bowls of heaven.” (see Page 208) He tells us that in Rev. 5:8 and Rev. 8:3-5 where heavenly prayer bowls are mentioned that are filled with the prayers of the saints. He tells us that either when enough prayers are in the bowl or when it is the right time, the heavenly power is released when the prayers are mixed with fire from the altar.
